My Review
I lied to you about a lot of things....but I meant every apology.”

I'm always a bigger fan of the first book than the second, but in this case, Scarlet was a million times better than Cinder.

Cinder is trapped in prison, with everyone on the outside knowing her cyborg secret. With the help of Thorn, another prisoner in the castle, they break out and try to reach his ship to escape from the hands of the Lunar Queen. If Cinder can escape, she may be the only person who can stop her.

In a small town of France, Scarlet Benoit searches for her missing grandmother. Everyones believes that her grandmother ran away, but Scarlet knows that she was abducted. When Scarlet meets Wolf, she believes that he can help her track her grandmother down and rescue her, all the way in Paris. As Scarlet discovers secrets about her family, she realized that her grandmother may not have been the sweet old lady she once thought she was.

I was so worried this book was going to be a dud, but I was really shocked when I ended up liking it more than Cinder. Not only do we get to see how Cinder escapes the castle and tried to deal with the information that she is in fact lunar, and the missing princess, but we also get to see the introduction of another great character. Scarlet is sassy and caring, she's the angry french woman who will beat everyone with a baguette till she finds her grandma. I love how much emotion she has, she never gives up and she's very loyal and hardworking. At moments I found her to be a tad unintelligent and naive, but hey we all can't be perfect.

I still highly recommend this series, the character development, and world-building are absolutely fantastic. The world that Marissa Meyer created here is brilliant and I love that we get to see a different side of it. Unless you hate the idea of two main characters, then definitely give this book, or this series (if you haven't read the first book) a try! You won't regret it.

Happy Reading.
